About Kathy
Kathy, mom, nana, aunt, sister, godmother, wife, friend….these are just a few titles she carried during her life. However, it is one singular description that is appropriate on how she was viewed by everyone and that is INSPIRATION, which is why we (her children) have initiated this foundation in her honor.
Kathy suffered from breast cancer for 13 long years, yet to any outsider you would never have noticed. She never complained or expressed “why me”, but rather displayed an inner strength that shined in everything she did. She was an avid supporter of both her immediate and extended family and friends and was always involved in our lives.
She was very athletic and a fan of all bay area teams and she always rooted for whoever her family was rooting for. She played tennis and golf and was a soccer coach/team mom for several of her kids’ teams. Her voice of encouragement could still be heard today.
In the spirit of her drive and determination, we have adopted the phrase “Yes I Can” as the basis for our foundation. This is based on her mantra during her last trying days. One defining image of this mantra can be seen in her silhouette, for even though she was limited to the use of only her left arm, she continued to play golf with friends and family and always with a smile on her face.
We, her children, are excited to honor our mother with this foundation and hope we can touch other people’s lives like she touched and shaped ours. It is our way of keeping her spirit and legacy alive and to ultimately pay it forward.
